How to win at sleeping

This is my blue bed in the lounge room.

This is my day bed in the lounge room. It's actually the fluffy purple cushion Aunty Freya made me, with the blankie my grand(hu)ma gave me. And Monkey having a nap.

This is my real bed.

As you can see, I have already achieved the optimum sleeping position, right in the middle, on the hand-knitted mohair blanket. Because I am such a generous puppy, I allow my human to share my bed, and I have left her plenty of room along the edges.

There is actually one better place to sleep in the bed, and that's where my human's head sleeps. I have developed a special technique to achieve this.

I start with a bit of reconnoitering, by walking over her head on my way to check out the tissue supply on the bedside table. Having found a suitable tissue, I then settle down to shred it (have you noticed how I am multi-tasking here?).

I either sit on my human's pillow, or I sit on her head. She moves over a bit, and so do I.

Then I lie down right next to her head, with my bum in her face. She moves over a bit more, and so do I.

Eventually she moves right away from the pillow, and voilà - it is mine and I have won at sleeping!

Hi Sasha - hmmm, we're also reading in quite a few blogs how other doggies get to share big beds with their humans. Hmmmm.... Comfy as our various doggie beds are we're starting to think that maybe we're being swindled here.... Nice strategy you've got going - you're one clever (and beautiful!) pup. Endless devotion - JD and Max.

Excellent techniques. And everyone knows the best place for schnauzer sleeping is in the middle of the bed.
