Gardening girl

My grand(hu)ma is coming to visit today - I can't wait to see her again!

I've been helping my human with the housework, to make sure everything is just right. I decided to prune one of the pot plants.

What do you think? I hope my grand(hu)ma likes it!

Puppy of the month!

I'm so proud ... I don't know what to say...

Let me start by thanking my human ... or ... well, obviously, I need to thank myself, so let me start by thanking myself ... and my human, I suppose I should thank her a bit, but mostly I want to thank me ...

And Doggy Daycare - I would like to thank Doggy Daycare for this wonderful award ... Dog Of The Month ... of course, I deserve it - I'm fabulous - but it's wonderful to be formally acknowledged!

As Puppy Of The Month, I get more than just accolades for my fabulousness - I also get treats!

Kangaroo bits, and beef cubes, and chicken bits and chicken breasts. I love being fabulous!

Mirror-image Monday

Oskar recently posted this picture of himself as a little puppy:

Here's my mirror-image version of me when I was a little puppy:

Tricky trickster

The other day my human and I decided to play Honey's Cookie in a Cup game - it was loads of fun!

When my human first put the cups out, I ran away and hid behind the coffee table, because they were scary.

We decided to put a treat beside one cup, so I could practice.

I barked at the treat a lot, and pawed at it.

Then I very carefully picked it up with my teeth, making sure I didn't touch the cup with my nose or my beard.

Next, we tried putting the treat in the cup, the right way up, to see if I could get the treat out. But the cup wouldn't tip over, mainly because I was trying not to touch it, and I kept pawing at the floor and the air near it, instead. I tried pawing at my human's leg, but that didn't work either. I barked at the cup, and also at my human, but the treat still wouldn't come out.

My human and I like to finish our sessions with something I'm good at, so she got the treat out of the cup and asked me to sit. Naturally, I ran away, because the treat had been inside the cup and that made it all scary, and now it was in her hand and that made her all scary.

I really hope we get to play that game again - only next time I'm going to ask my human to use something less something less scary than a cup. Maybe she can hide the treat inside a piece of chicken.

Tummy-tickle Tuesday

My friend Basil is very good at tummy tickles.

Still happy from all that tickling!

Oliver: I heard there was some tummy tickling going on in your blog, so I thought I would drop by and... oh, a ball...

Mysterious Monday

Here is today's mystery.

How is it possible that a couch which can comfortably fit three humans and a giant Bertie all at once...

... can only fit one Sasha?

It's a mystery.

Wordless Wednesday...

... because there's nothing to say about this.

It's not my fault if fine merino hats that smell like my human's head are irresistible...

Er... I mean... it's not my fault if the Scarlet Puppynickel finds them irresistible. That's what I meant.

Birthday star!

It was my first birthday last week - now I'm one whole year old, and a very grown-up puppy!

Last night I had my birthday party. My cousins Bertie and Oliver came over, and my human made special birthday party food for us.

We started with chicken cupcakes.

I want to show you the special papers my human got for them - it says "cupcake" on the outside. That means they all belong to me, because my pedigree name is Cupcake!

Then we three puppies had roast vegetable and chicken frittata.

I don't have any pictures of us enjoying the delicious food, because my human forgot to take them - but we enjoyed it... lots!

The humans had roast vegetable frittata without chicken, because one of Bertie and Oliver's humans doesn't eat meat, which we don't mind because it means more for us! I don't have a photo of their frittata, because my human forgot to take a picture of it, but it looked really funny because it fell apart all over the place. Probably because it didn't have chicken holding it together.

Here's a picture of the party hats my human got for my party, but forgot to hand out.

It's probably just as well she forgot to hand them out, because she tried to take a picture of me wearing one today, to pretend it was from the other night, only I didn't like it. Here's a picture of me rather emphatically explaining why I won't be wearing it - now or ever!

And now onto the loot... er... generous gifts I received.

My Aunty Freya gave me a giant picture she took of me when I was a teensy puppy, all snoozily on the beautiful fluffy purple pillow she made for me. I'm going to frame it and hang it somewhere special. I don't get to sleep on that pillow any more, because I like to eat it.

Here's blue loofah dog.

Scary chooken.

It's wearing a bikini and nail polish, and when you bite it, it makes a clucking sound.

A new elephant to replace old elephant - can you tell which is which?

When you bite elephant, he squeaks, and his nose and tail unroll. Unless you chew them off, then they don't unroll any more.

Because I'm a big, grown-up puppy now, I got a new blingy collar and tag.

See how shiny the collar bling is!

My friends JD and Max have sent me a parcel all the way from England - I can't wait for it to arrive! They've posted about one of the things in it, it looks wonderful! I'll be sure to post about it when it arrives!

Model puppy

Today I went to doggy daycare - even though it's Saturday...

My human claims she had to go to a working bee, and also do some painting around the house (I preferred the paint the way it was before, when I could peel bits off it).

The doggy daycare was running a special "first-aid for pets" class, and I got to be the demo dog! I had my pulse taken by everyone, and they all tried stuff on me. I got loads of pats!

It was very exhausting for a modest and retiring puppy such as myself, what with the burden of being the centre of attention and having to sit in people's laps and be hugged all day long.

But I bore it with patience and professionalism, because that's the very special kind of puppy I am. And I got to play with my friend Hercules The Extravagently Long Sausage Dog, who was also there for the day.

Now for a nap.

Talented Tuesday

My friend Lily and I like to sing. We were thinking of entering Australian Idogl, but we decided it would be unfair on the other contestants, because we are so talented.

You can see our friend Pepper waiting for his cue to join in.

Giant grass and a lean, mean, puppy machine

As you know, we Miniature Schnauzers are pretty big dogs. Here are some pictures which show how big we are...

You can see that this poor labrador is dwarfed by my enormous presence. He's standing up for himself, though, and pretending he's not afraid!

My friend Millie is also a big dog. Here we are greeting a teensy poodlish dog.

Given how huge we are, you can imagine that if grass grows taller than us, then it's pretty tall!

Here I am bravely trying to break a trail through the grass, using my teeth.

Because the grass is so big, the grass seeds are enormous! They keep getting stuck in my coat, so even though the weather hasn't really warmed up properly yet, my human and I decided I should get a clip.

Now I'm a lean, mean, puppy machine!

Ha ha!

P.S. Happy birthday to my friends JD and Max - they turn one year old today!

Spring fancy

In spring, a young puppy's thoughts turn to... gardening!

...these flowers look tasty...

...I'm helping with the pruning...

...that's much better...
