Party puppy!

I'm very excited, because my friends JD and Max have invited me to accompany them to Lady and Scooby's wedding.

I'm going to be just about the luckiest puppy there, with two such handsome dates - it's going to be great!

If you get a chance, pop over to their blog to see what we are all going to be wearing...

Good Puppy Tip #861

Keep your human on their toes by pretending you don't understand simple commands such as "sit", and if they ask with a treat in their hand, pretend you've forgotten all your manners and jump up and try to grab it.

But if they pick up the clicker, sit down immediately, even if not asked.

What's wet and falls from the sky?

Apparently it's called "rain".

Because I am a puppy, and only 7 1/2 months old, and because we've been having this thing called a "drought" since before I was born, tonight was the first time we've been for a walk in actual heavy rain. I was a bit worried at first, because it was so much like having a bath, but outside, and all around me!

But then I discovered all these little streams down the sides of the roads and between the cobbles, and I could drink from them! And then we went onto the nature strip in the middle of the road, and it was all wet and there were all these really cool smells!

And when we got home my human towelled me down, and then I gobbled up my dinner and ran around the house like a nutty puppy!

I love the rain!

My human says that on the weekend we are going to buy me a raincoat. I don't know what that is, but I bet it'll be tasty.

Night time is the funnest time of all

I like to spend as much quality time with my human as puppily possible.

During the day, as well as doing decorating, I like to sleep so that I can be all wide-awakey when she's home. And I mean all the time she's at home.

In the evenings, we generally go for a walk, have dinner, play, watch tv, have a huggle and then go to bed. And bed's the best time of all.

I have her undivided attention if she's not asleep, and it's easy enough to wake her up. Barking usually does it. Or attacking her head, and that's loads of fun, as well! I also like to attack other bits of her when she's in bed.

A favourite night-time activity is to lie on my back, and squirmulate my way around the bed, huffing loudly, and trying to bite my human through the covers, from my upside-down position. This can be quite challenging to achieve and I intend to practice it regularly so as to become an expert.

I'm sure my human appreciates my efforts to play with her at night, she says my name a lot, which is a good sign, and flaps the sheets at me, which is also fun.

Puppy in the Park

In the mornings we go to Royal Park, to the outside of the Native Grass Circle, where dogs are allowed off-leash between 7am and 9am.

There's lots of space to run around in, and trees to hide behind and to look for possum poo under.

I've made lots of friends.

There are other schnauzers.

And I've even run into an old friend - Rigby from puppy kindergarten. We remembered each other instantly, and got right down to playing.

I love my morning park walks.

Humouring my human

My human likes to play a game called "got your nose". I, in return, like to play a game called "got your hand". The two games are curiously compatible.

When my grand(hu)ma visited me, we played a game with my Kong Wubba.

A puppy and her Wubba.

My grand(hu)ma would sit on the floor and I would follow my Wubba round and round her, and over her legs and under her legs over and over again. I love that game.

My human also plays that game with me, and she says I'm very good at jumping. Except when she gets lazy and lays down on the floor, and then sometimes instead of jumping over her tummy I jump on to it.

I think she laughs, but it's difficult to tell, because I think she's also choking.

Wild wolf puppy food

Tonight I got a bone!

I frequently get chicken necks, and sometimes dried bones, but I don't often get fresh lamb bones. My human says that most butchers only have them bagged up in large bags, and she doesn't have room to freeze them. But now she's working in the city again, she walks past the Queen Victoria Market every day, so it's easier to get just a couple of bones at a time.

As soon as she gave it to me, my primal wolfy instincts leapt to the fore, and the first thing I did, right after smacking my lips, was look for somewhere to bury it.

I considered burying it under the bed, or on the spare blanket on the floor, or in my toy box, or beside the bike. I eventually decided the best place for it would be on my blue bed.

Do you think it's comfortable?

Um. Not sure what to do now.

Perhaps the bone would be more comfortable on this side of the bed.

Now... if I can just get the angle right...

That's better, we're both more comfortable on my blankie.

Of course, after I chewed and chewed it I had to find somewhere secret to bury it. I found a really good spot, too (not anywhere near the toy box, by the way, in case you were thinking of trying to steal it).

How to win at sleeping

This is my blue bed in the lounge room.

This is my day bed in the lounge room. It's actually the fluffy purple cushion Aunty Freya made me, with the blankie my grand(hu)ma gave me. And Monkey having a nap.

This is my real bed.

As you can see, I have already achieved the optimum sleeping position, right in the middle, on the hand-knitted mohair blanket. Because I am such a generous puppy, I allow my human to share my bed, and I have left her plenty of room along the edges.

There is actually one better place to sleep in the bed, and that's where my human's head sleeps. I have developed a special technique to achieve this.

I start with a bit of reconnoitering, by walking over her head on my way to check out the tissue supply on the bedside table. Having found a suitable tissue, I then settle down to shred it (have you noticed how I am multi-tasking here?).

I either sit on my human's pillow, or I sit on her head. She moves over a bit, and so do I.

Then I lie down right next to her head, with my bum in her face. She moves over a bit more, and so do I.

Eventually she moves right away from the pillow, and voilà - it is mine and I have won at sleeping!

I'd like to thank the adogemy...

Recently I've received a couple of awards which celebrate my fabulousness.

The first award is the Pawsome award, given to me by my friends Max and JD.

This award is presented to those dog bloggers out there who know the meaning of GREATNESS. Their blogs are consistently interesting, funny, or informative. Their KINDNESS is extended to others without expectation of its return, and their FRIENDSHIP inspires others to do EXTRAORDINARY things. These are the blogs you can't wait to read everyday. In short, they are AWE-INSPIRING, full of wonder, and simply PAWsome!

To accept this award I must paw it forward to at least four others who I feel exemplify a Pawsome Blog, and leave a note saying why I think they deserve the Pawsome Award!

Unfortunately, all the pawsome bloggers I know out there already have one of these awards... except my cousins Bertie and Oliver, who inspired me to start blogging in the first place... so they deserve this award at least four times' worth!

My second award is the Honest Scrap award, also given to me by JD and Max.

To accept the award, I have to tell you ten honest things about myself, so here goes!
  1. I love meeting people, it's my favourite thing. My human says it's the only bad thing about me, because some people are afraid of dogs, and I always rush over to meet them anyway. She also says that if that's the worst thing about me, then I'm not doing too badly.

  2. I love tummy tickles. It's my other favourite thing.

  3. I own all the socks. Since it started getting cold, I own all the scarves and hats, as well. I haven't come across any gloves yet, but if I do, I'm pretty sure I will own them, too.

  4. I also own all the shoes.

  5. I'm thinking of branching out into underwear.

  6. I love squeaky toys. I get one and I make it squeak and squeak and squeak. My favourite time to do this is when my human is watching TV. Sometimes she has to rewind what she was watching, so I help her by making sure I squeak extra-specially loudly when she rewinds, to make sure that everything sounds exactly the same the second time around. Even when she rewinds several times in a row.

  7. I'm a very considerate puppy.

  8. Since the weather got colder, the grass in the park is all wet in the mornings, and sometimes frosty. I love running around like a nutburger through it all, and getting all wet and muddy. Then when my human carries me over the road (there's usually a lot of traffic by then), I like to give her big muddy hugs and kisses.

  9. I love my cousins Bertie and Oliver. I get so excited when we arrive at their house that I go all wiggly and wriggly and wag my whole body.

  10. Nothing in the world is as good as huggles with my human, when she picks me up and puts me on her lap and tickles my tummy and tells me what a wonderful puppy I am.
I'm supposed to pass this award on to other bloggers that I'd like to know more about... so I'm going to keep my eyes open and my ears alert for some who haven't already received the Honest Scrap.

Thank you so much for presenting me with these awards, and helping me celebrate my fabulousness.
