Tricky trickster

The other day my human and I decided to play Honey's Cookie in a Cup game - it was loads of fun!

When my human first put the cups out, I ran away and hid behind the coffee table, because they were scary.

We decided to put a treat beside one cup, so I could practice.

I barked at the treat a lot, and pawed at it.

Then I very carefully picked it up with my teeth, making sure I didn't touch the cup with my nose or my beard.

Next, we tried putting the treat in the cup, the right way up, to see if I could get the treat out. But the cup wouldn't tip over, mainly because I was trying not to touch it, and I kept pawing at the floor and the air near it, instead. I tried pawing at my human's leg, but that didn't work either. I barked at the cup, and also at my human, but the treat still wouldn't come out.

My human and I like to finish our sessions with something I'm good at, so she got the treat out of the cup and asked me to sit. Naturally, I ran away, because the treat had been inside the cup and that made it all scary, and now it was in her hand and that made her all scary.

I really hope we get to play that game again - only next time I'm going to ask my human to use something less something less scary than a cup. Maybe she can hide the treat inside a piece of chicken.

Hi Sasha - if we were there we'd protect you from that scary cup! We agree that chiken is a MUCH better recepticle to hide a treat in. Really, sometimes these humans really are a little dim aren't they?! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Oh Sasha you are brilliant. One would be much more willing to retrieve a treat from some chicken. You are smarter than all of the humans!

My human wanted to play that game with me but luckily for me, she couldn't find those cups. We have only those plastic transparent cups. I think she still has that in mind...till she gets those cups.

Oh Sasha - I think that's a great start!

Actually, maybe next time your human could try putting the treat on the floor and then showing you how she covers it with a cup upside down - but tip the cup sideways slightly so you can see the treat underneath...so you get the idea? I think having the cup right-side up and with the treat inside is just too difficult for us doggies to understand, especially in the beginning.

If you're really scared of the cups, maybe she could just try covering the treat with a scrap of cloth or piece of paper...just so you get the idea of treats being hidden UNDER something - and then you can have 3 scraps of cloths or paper to choose from!

I am with you my little pal, or maybe in a piece of cheese. I would bark at the cup too. I don't like those kind of tricks, I am willing to sit and shake, but please don't hide my treats. Thank you very much.
