Stuff that's not good for dogs (or cats)

My human recently bought a book called Poisonous2Pets.

It has loads of information about plants that dogs (and cats) shouldn't chew on. My human thought it would be a good reference, because even though we don't have a garden, I do enjoy a spot of grazing in the park. Also, if we ever get a garden, my human can use it to plan what to plant (and what to not plant).

She thinks it's a good book, except that apparently everything I like to sample is poisonous! (though sometimes not really, really poisonous, just a bit sickie-making if I eat too much).

Anyway, I thought that other dogs and cats might like to know about it. It's an Australian book, but it's about plants all around the world - so some of my overseas friends might be interested, too!

Hi Sasha - ooh, our human really wants this book BUT we're not so sure it would be a good thing.... You see, we DO so love to scavenge when we're 'out and about' and if female human KNEW the facts surrounding what we were eating she would probably go grey overnight. Well, greyer than she is now - he he he!!

You know what - yesterday we were at the park and we noticed that most of the trees had cereal poured around their trunks - super-yum! We were with some chums so we all started to munch, but then all our owners put us back on our leads and led us away - humph! We've been told we're to be kept away from this park for a few days whilst the cereal is cleared away by the council - we wondered what was going on until female human explained the sad news that a couple of years ago a local 'nutter' poisoned a lot of the local cats (and killed them) so we all had to be careful in case it was the same sort of thing happening again. Isn't that awful??

Anyway, we've obviously lived to tell the tale so obviously it wasn't lethal and it was just someone feeding the birds in a rather odd way, but we have to stay away from the park as the council tell us that it has attracted rats and things need to be 'sorted out'....we're just lucky we have a lot of good walks near us!!

Anyway, enough of us waffling - this is a great post Sasha, but it's missing a photo of you....whistful sighs! Hey - we got a card from Bertie and Oliver today - we were SO excited, it was great and it smelt GREAT, very schnauzerly!!

Happy new year pretty Sasha. We still can't quite get our little schnauzer heads around the fact that you're already in 2010 whilst we're still in 2009. You're so pretty, intelligent - and a time traveller too, wow!! We can't wait to read about your adventures during 2010! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.

Sasha,

Our apologies for being away this past month, mom's been a bit nuts with the holidays; we're really happy they are over!

This looks like a good book to have, thank you so much for letting us know about it. Not a lot of plants in NYC but in the summer we always go away to Maine and there are tons of diffrent plants there.

Wishing you and your pawrents a very happy new year!

We look forward in sharing in your adventures in 2010.
